Acer is reportedly developing a new smart phone again. The phone which is described named Acer CloudMobile will reportedly be introduced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2012 in Barcelona. Acer CloudMobile is a Android smartphone has been awarded in the iF design award for the design used. It is quite surprising from this award because Acer CloudMobile is not yet officially launched.
With this award it can be known a little specs of this CloudMobile. The screen size of 4.3inches with a resolution of HD, plus a Dolby sound system, which was wrapped in a bodywhich has a thickness of less than 10 millimeters.

What will distinguish this smartphone Acer mobile predecessor? Acer CloudMobile claimed to have advantages in smartphone design. This design has won iF design award 2012.
Acer CloudMobile will also come with 4.3 inch HD screen, and with a thickness of 9mm.This Smartphone comes with Android 4.0, known as Ice Cream Sandwich, plus Dolby features and body are covered with stainless steel.

The new D255 mini laptop from Acer is smarter than the previous Acer Aspire mini laptops. It offers excellent battery life and boasts an attractively low price. The Acer Aspire D255 is the only netbook out there that dual boots both Android and Windows operating system which makes it stand out from the rest of the competition.

Design

The Aspire One D255 shares same chassis as the Acer Aspire D260. The lid attracts fingerprints but they are not easily visible. It looks good and sports a two tone color scheme. The palmrest and touchpad share the same color as the lid. The machine weighs just 1.25kg with its 6-cell battery.

Operating system

As I said earlier, the machine dual boots into Windows and Android OS. However, when you first turn on the laptop, it instantly boots into the Android before preceding to the Windows XP OS. Basically, the Android acts like a quickboot OS that allows to get online within few seconds. However, if you are like me who always puts his computer into standby mode, the inclusion of extra OS (Android) would not benefit you much.

Display and Keyboard

The Acer D255 has same screen as its old cousin, Acer Aspire D260. The screen packs 1024 x 600 pixels and is LED backlit. The web cam is located above the display and is good enough for video chats over Skype.

Keyboard on the D255 is pretty good too. It has large, flat top keys which manage to provide a decent typing experience. The touchpad has a smooth matte finish and is very responsive. Multi touch gestures also work well, including pinch to zoom and two finger scrolling.

Acer Aspire One D255 has standard mini laptop specifications. It has an Atom N450 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk drive and Intel GMA 3150 graphics. You get three USB 2.0 ports, VGA port, Ethernet, card reader and standard audio jacks (headphone and microphone).

Coming to the performance, it scored 6/34 in the Worldbench test which is what all Atom N450 powered netbooks score. That does not mean shabby performance as it plays both 480p and 720p YouTube videos without any problem.

In my typical Wi-Fi web-browsing test, the mini laptop scored a brilliant 7 hours mark. If you switch to the conservative power plan, you will able to squeeze even more juice out of that 6-cell battery.

Verdict

Acer D255 sells for 300 dollars which is a decent deal for a 10.1-inch mini laptop. I would certainly recommend getting one if you are tight on budget and cannot afford higher priced models.

Instructions

1. Set your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) to accept email. Selecting the messaging icon on your phone to do that. A gmail account–an email account with Google–is required to use the email messaging function on the phone. If you do not already have a gmail account, you can register for one from your phone. This will synchronize your Android to Google and give you access to your gmail account from your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) phone.

2. Install Google Calendar on your computer to synchronize your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) with Outlook Calendar. Using your computer, sign in to your gmail account using the same gmail information you used to set up email messaging for your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) . Follow the prompts to install Google Calendar.

3. Synchronize calendars. Once Google Calendar is installed, you will be asked for your gmail account and password. At that time, you will be given synchronizing options. Choose two-way so that you can use either Google or Outlook Calendar and your appointments will appear in both calendars.

1. Launch your Web browser and navigate to "companionlink.com." Click the "Android" link and click the "Sync Android With Outlook" link. Click the "14-Day Free Trial" CompanionLink download. Save the download to your desktop. Double-click the download to install it onto your computer.

2.Connect your Android phone to your computer by inserting one end of its USB cord into the computer’s USB port and the other end into the Android’s data port.

3 .Tap the Android’s "Market" icon to open its app store. Type "DejaOffice" into the "Search" field. Double-click the "DejaOffice" icon to install the app onto your phone. It is an office suite application that allows you to conveniently access your Outlook email client on your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) .

4. Double-click the "CompanionLink" icon to open the program. Wait for it to recognize your Android. Select what data you want to sync from Outlook, such as your contacts, emails, tasks and calendar. Choose how often you want to sync your data. Click "Sync." Your Outlook data will be synced with your Android and stored within your "DejaOffice" app.

2.Unlock your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) phone and open the application launcher. Find the "Email" icon and tap on it. Press the "Menu" button and then tap "Add Account."

3.Type in the user name and password from your Outlook email into your Acer Liquid e (Acer A1) phone. Tap "Next" to allow the Android email wizard to automatically detect the account settings.
